Fallout- Amazon

Refuge was thrilled to help bring Fallout's post-apocalyptic wasteland to life. We played a key role in realizing Vault 33, both behind the massive Vault door and in the world beyond. In this reel, we showcase some of our work, including bringing to life those pesky Radroaches—the same irradiated nuisances that tormented players in the original game. From their eerie movement to their grotesque details, we made sure they felt just as unsettling on screen as they did in the Fallout universe.

Shogun- FX

It was a dream come true to help bring Shōgun, based on James Clavell’s classic novel, back to life. The visual effects serve as a subtle but essential background character, enhancing the storytelling without ever overshadowing it. Our work seamlessly blends with the stunning practical sets, rich historical detail, and powerful performances, ensuring that every frame feels authentic and immersive.

The Righteous Gemstones- HBO

For the season finale of Season 3, Bruce and Danny tasked Refuge with creating a "biblical plague of locusts" that swarms through the TV studio, turning chaos into a test of character. The sequence had to feel overwhelming—thousands of insects filling the air, crawling over everything, and sending the cast and crew into a full-blown panic. We meticulously crafted the locusts’ movement, ensuring they felt organic and unpredictable while interacting seamlessly with the live-action environment. The result? A visually stunning, high-intensity moment that let the characters reveal their true colors amid the chaos.

Refuge was honored to be able to contribute a myriad of effects to season 1 of Superman and Lois. A modern adaptation of the classic superhero property from DC Comics. The series premiered on February 23, 2021. Superman & Lois was renewed for a second season in March 2021 and is scheduled to premiere in early 2022 on The CW.

Marvel's Helstrom

Helstrom is a Marvel Televisoin show for Hulu where two estranged siblings try to atone for the sins of their father. Refuge took on creatures and all kinds of effects to help bring this show to life. Part of this series was set in Portland, and Refuge also supervised the shooting of the VFX plates required for the St Johns Bridge

Paper Girls - Amazon Prime

For Paper Girls, a series based on the graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan, Refuge brought to life a few characters including a 12 foot Pterosaur and the robot probes. We also look developed the “burping trash-hole” rip in time in which the characters could travel through time.

When the production company 'Neighborhood Watch' called Refuge about helping out on the next set of music videos for The Lumineers, we jumped at the opportunity. Gloria is full of hidden visual effects to help clean up the practical work done on set.

A compilation of the work done on Kurt Sutter's spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C. Besides creating creating border walls and other signage, the larger effects were removing EZ's beard in the flashback moments, and creating some computer generated animals for the show.
